Geoffrey Ogram Memorial Fund

Having never been a smoker, Geoffrey Ogram was shocked to receive a diagnosis of lung cancer in 2010. Despite two years of non-progression, successful surgery and targeted therapy, Geoffrey passed away on Friday April 15th, 2016.

A tireless activist for lung cancer awareness and research, he participated in many awareness campaigns, and served as a member of Lung Cancer Canada’s Board of Directors and the Co-Chair of its Advocacy Committee. Having earned a PhD in Physics, he was convinced that research into early detection and advanced treatments, including personalized medicine, would dramatically improve outcomes for cancer patients.

The Geoffrey Ogram Memorial Fund supports a research program aimed at helping scientists to accelerate the application of new knowledge relating to the early detection of lung cancer and the etiology of lung cancer in different demographics and populations.

Kayla’s Angel Fund

25-year old Kayla never imagined that a cough that started when she was pregnant would turn out to be stage 4 lung cancer. After receiving the diagnosis, her community of friends and family quickly rallied around her and formed Kayla's Fight Club to support her. Despite a brave battle, Kayla passed away. As a testament to her spirit, strength and memory, Kayla's Fight Club continues to raise funds in Kayla’s memory to assist families with the everyday costs of living with lung cancer. Beginning locally and working with The Ottawa Hospital, the fund will provide parking passes for medical appointments. With your help, we hope to expand the program to more regions.
