Lung Cancer Canada is a registered national charity that serves as Canada’s leading resource for lung cancer education, patient support, research, and advocacy. Lung Cancer Canada is a member of the Global Lung Cancer Coalition and is the only national charitable organization in Canada focused exclusively on lung cancer.

Lung Cancer Canada and its members work to increase public awareness of lung cancer, support and advocate for people living with lung cancer and their loved ones, and provide educational resources to patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the public. LCC employees engage with individuals affected by lung cancer, oncologists, health professionals, allied organizations, and others involved in lung health. Position Summary

The Junior Event Coordinator supports Lung Cancer Canada’s fundraising and awareness initiatives through event coordination, administrative support, and marketing activities. This role contributes to planning and executing events such as the Give a Breath 5K, Evening of Hope, Lung Cancer Connect, and Policy Forums, while assisting with graphic design and digital content to help deliver impactful projects that reflect and advance Lung Cancer Canada’s mission.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this hybrid position works collaboratively across departments to support event logistics, communications, operations, and digital engagement. The Junior Event Coordinator helps strengthen community engagement, enhance internal efficiency, and contribute to the success of Lung Cancer Canada’s fundraising and advocacy initiatives.

Responsibilities

Event & Program Operations:

  • Support planning and execution of national and regional events including the Give a Breath 5K, Evening of Hope, Lung Cancer Connect, Policy Forums, and other initiatives throughout the year.
  • Assist with event logistics, including venue coordination, registration tracking, participant communication, and day-of-event support.
  • Help prepare, organize, and ship event signage, merchandise, and promotional items.
  • Maintain checklists, timelines, and shared planning documents to ensure tasks remain on schedule.

Marketing, Communications & Digital Support:

  • Assist in creating graphics, digital assets, and promotional materials using design tools such as Canva.
  • Support social media content planning and scheduling, including short-form video concepts, event updates, and audience engagement posts.
  • Capture photos, videos, and testimonials at events and contribute to digital storytelling efforts.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement:

  • Assist in responding to inquiries from participants, volunteers, and community supporters.
  • Support regional event hosts by preparing materials, gathering resources, and ensuring they have the tools needed for successful event delivery.
  • Help coordinate the distribution of promotional materials (e.g., posters, postcards) for community awareness.

Departmental & Administrative Support:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative assistance across departments, including scheduling, note-taking, and updating databases.
  • Support meeting preparation, take notes, and distribute summaries as needed.
  • Contribute to internal coordination by maintaining organized digital files, shared folders, and event records.
  • Assist with preparation of presentations, toolkits, marketing briefs, and other materials.
  • Help manage outreach lists, track responses, and coordinate follow-ups with participants, sponsors, and community partners.

Program Support & Continuous Improvement:

  • Support post-event evaluations by collecting photos, feedback, statistics, and other content required for reporting.
  • Contribute ideas that help improve event processes, materials, and participant experiences.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in marketing, communications, event management, graphic design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in event coordination, marketing, digital communications, or social media support.
  • Familiarity with content creation, social media management, and basic analytics; experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and community partners.
