Lung Cancer Canada is a registered national charity that serves as Canada’s leading resource for lung cancer education, patient support, research, and advocacy. Lung Cancer Canada is a member of the Global Lung Cancer Coalition and is the only national charitable organization in Canada focused exclusively on lung cancer.

Lung Cancer Canada and its members work to increase public awareness of lung cancer, support and advocate for people living with lung cancer and their loved ones, and provide educational resources to patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the public. LCC employees engage with individuals affected by lung cancer, oncologists, health professionals, allied organizations, and others involved in lung health. Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Event Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Lung Cancer Canada’s mission to support, educate, and advocate for Canadians affected by lung cancer through the planning and execution of meaningful events. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of major national and regional events—including the Give a Breath 5K Fundraiser, Evening of Hope, and Regional Lung Cancer Summits—to ensure they are engaging, impactful, and aligned with organizational goals.

Working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners, the Event Coordinator ensures each event is delivered with excellence, strengthens Lung Cancer Canada’s national presence, and contributes to the sustainability of its programs and services.

Responsibilities

Event Planning & Logistics:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of Lung Cancer Canada’s major events, including the Give a Breath 5K and Evening of Hope, as well as additional national and regional initiatives.
  • Oversee all event logistics such as venue coordination, vendor and supplier management, contracts, permits, equipment, materials, and on-site execution.
  • Develop and maintain detailed event timelines and checklists to ensure seamless planning and delivery.
  • Manage and update event microsites (e.g., giveabreath.ca) and fundraising platforms (e.g., Raisely).
  • Manage the procurement, organization, and shipment of event materials, including signage, merchandise, promotional items, and collateral.
  • Stakeholder, Sponsor & Volunteer Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with sponsors, vendors, event hosts, volunteers, and community partners across all event programs.
  • Liaise with regional hosts to align event goals and organizational objectives and provide support throughout planning and execution.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of vendors, sponsors, and volunteers.

Marketing & Communications Collaboration:

  • Develop and implement marketing plans for Give a Breath 5k and Evening of Hope, ensuring consistency with Lung Cancer Canada branding.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of promotional content including social media graphics and videos .
  • Coordinate with regional hosts to manage the delivery, allocation, and distribution of promotional materials (e.g., posters, postcards).

Sponsorship Support & Stewardship:

  • Support sponsorship activities by assisting with proposal development, benefit fulfillment, and delivery of stewardship communications.
  • Ensure sponsor agreements are tracked and executed while ensuring fulfillment of all contractual obligations.
  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with sponsorship partners to support long-term engagement.

Program Support & Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Give a Breath 5K and Evening of Hope event programs by identifying opportunities for innovation and enhancement.
  • Support post-event evaluations and help refine planning tools, processes, and templates to improve efficiency and overall event quality.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in event management, marketing, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–3 years of experience in event coordination or project coordination, ideally within a nonprofit or community-focused environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience coordinating logistics, working with vendors, and supporting budgets or financial tracking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Canva, or event platforms is an asset.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
