President

Medical Oncologist, QEII Health Sciences Centre
Halifax, Nova Scotia

My commitment to lung cancer awareness and patient support is deeply personal. I was initially drawn to a career in oncology academically by innovative advances in the science of cancer care. It was the privilege of providing care for a patient population in whom supportive care needs are frequently high, however, along with the resultant deep personal reward that comes from providing that care, that has made oncology the right fit for me. Working with lung cancer patients, I recognized the significant opportunity to provide critical support and help provide an advocacy voice. The major toll lung cancer takes in Canada and the unmet needs that exist in the provision of lung cancer care at a systemic level became my call to action.

My journey with Lung Cancer Canada began with the Medical Advisory Committee and grew into an interest in initiatives focused on raising awareness and educating the public about lung cancer. By combining my oncology expertise with a compassionate approach, I’ve been able to contribute meaningfully to our mission of reducing the burden of lung cancer through education, support, and advocacy, touching the lives of many more patients than I ever could have through my medical practice alone.

Serving on the Board of Directors, I help shape the strategic direction of Lung Cancer Canada. I focus on advocating for patient-centered policies, enhancing support services, and promoting research to improve treatment options. I am committed to ensuring that every decision and initiative is rooted in the needs and experiences of the lung cancer community.

As President, I am honored to be part of Lung Cancer Canada's mission, bringing hope and support to those affected by lung cancer and working towards a brighter future.
